The Development Specialist will serve as the primary driver of individual donor engagement for contributions under $1,000, focusing on cultivating long-term donor relationships and fostering new supporters. This position works in a fast-paced and collaborative environment striving to increase the resources needed to help all age with confidence. The Development Specialist will support individual giving efforts, donor stewardship, and lead event coordination, ensuring FSL’s donors are actively engaged and appreciated. This position reports to the Senior Director of Mission Advancement, working closely with the entire Mission Advancement team.
Essential Functions :

Individual Giving
Manage a portfolio of individual donors contributing less than $1,000 annually by building meaningful relationships through personalized phone calls, handwritten letters, site tours, and sharing compelling impact stories.
Implement and execute a New Donor Welcome Series to engage and retain new supporters.
Collaborate with the Institutional Giving Manager and Donor Database Coordinator to track, analyze, and report on donor activities and outcomes, leveraging data to strategically move donors through the gift ask pipeline and increase their annual giving.
Grow FSL’s rural fundraising efforts, fostering connections with donors in the communities we serve outside of the Phoenix area.
Coordinate drives for in kind contributions such as food pantry items, durable medical equipment, personal hygiene items, etc.
Consistently communicate with portfolio donors to express gratitude and update how their contributions have impacted the individuals that FSL serves.
Event Coordination
Lead the planning and logistics of FSL’s special events, including our annual fundraiser, ensuring seamless execution and donor engagement.
Plan and execute donor stewardship events twice annually to recognize and thank donors.
Develop and implement a consistent site tour program to engage donors with FSL’s work.
Grow and manage all third-party giving opportunities to expand fundraising efforts.
When requested, represent FSL at various community events.
Employer-Supported Giving Programs
Manage employee giving and gift-matching programs to maximize corporate philanthropy opportunities.
Oversee FSL’s internal employee giving program to encourage staff participation in the organization’s mission.

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
Knowledge of applicable tax laws, the fundraising process, and concept of donor relations.
Clear fingerprint background screening through the Department of Public Safety and comprehensive background clearance.
Previous experience using donor management software.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
3-5 years of experience in fundraising for a health or social services organization.
Interest in working towards a CFRE (certified fundraiser executive) designation.
