Position Summary
Responsible for the overall preparation, planning and serving of congregate and home-delivered meals for Senior Center Services.
This position provides supervision for 2-3 direct reports and 1-2 indirect reports
Essential Functions :

Supervisory
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with FSL’s core values, agency policies, procedures and applicable laws : Responsibilities include :
Actively participates in the interviewing and selection processes of open requisitions.
Assists with ensuring new employees are successfully onboarded and trained in their role.
Supervises and trains cooks, assistant cooks, volunteers and other temporary kitchen helpers.
Ensure program operations meet company policies and service delivery compliance requirements.
Supervises the preparation and use of equipment and tools required for meal preparation and service delivery, with special emphasis on sanitation requirements and cleanliness.
Supervises the cleaning of the kitchen tools and associated equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness and sanitation requirements are met.
Work in a collaborative manner with members of the team to address daily service delivery needs in a timely fashion.
Functional / Operational
Plans the daily menus for FSL senior centers, ensuring all nutritional requirements are met contractual requirements.
Creates all recipes used in FSL Senior Centers per nutritional requirements outlined in contracts.
Review and approve any menu changes.
Places food orders and / or monitors food orders placed by designee.
Maintains kitchen and food supplies for home kitchen.
Performs routine audits for sanitation and menu adherence for all FSL Senior Center kitchens.
Provides guidance and supervision for direct reports and volunteers in preparation and serving of congregate and home-delivered meals.
Ensures proper storage of food and supply items to maintain quality, sanitation and accessibility for use.
Ensures meal service delivery portions, temperature and sanitation standards are maintained.
Completes invoicing process for billing payments.
Engages in fundraising activities for the Congregate and Home Delivered Meal Programs.
Assists with activities conducted by the staff or volunteer organizations.
Associates degree in nutrition or food services, or equivalent experience.
Three years’ experience in planning, preparation and serving of large quantities of food. (Formal training in food services may substitute for experience.)
Extensive knowledge associated with handling, preparation and cooking of food items in quantities necessary for 100-150 meals.
Basic knowledge of nutritional requirements for seniors.
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to follow sanitation requirements, standards and procedures.
Ability to read and follow approved recipes and menus.
Minimum of three years’ experience working with older adults, adults with physical disabilities, and adults experiencing mental health issues.
Possess a Safe Serv Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of position entry.
Possess a valid unrestricted driver license and be insurable by FSL.
Clear fingerprint background screening through the Department of Public Safety and comprehensive. background clearance to include a physical, drug screen and other.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred :
Bilingual English / Spanish.
Kitchen management experience.
Encouraged to obtain CPR / First Aid certification within 60 days of position entry.
Skills :
Displays excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and garner trust with others.
Demonstrates strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Proficient in the use of the Internet; and in the use of Microsoft Windows Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel
Abilities :
Able to comprehend, retain, and follow regulations and policies set out by Area of Agency on Aging Contract

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Works in well-lit, ventilated kitchen. Kitchen environment is warm and humid from cooking and sanitation equipment.
Works with or near machinery, sharp tools and refrigeration equipment.
Requires reaching, stooping and moderate lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Requires standing for prolonged periods.
Must not have any restrictions for physical work for which reasonable accommodation cannot be made.
