What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director of Fleet Operations position at FST Logistics, Inc.?
Responsibilities:
- This role will develop and implement solutions that drive improvement and overall business results
- You will own the operational efficiency, quality, and safety for the Fleet operations
- You will ensure a cohesive strategy for lean, high-quality operations, and develop KPIs and establish appropriate tracking and communication processes
- You will seek Customer Service operational excellence as a competitive advantage
- You will maintain metrics on driver and department health (revenue, mileage, rpm, driver wages, overtime, etc.) and review personnel metrics to identify areas for coaching and process improvement and drive operational decision-making
- You will drive a culture of performance and results, and identify strategies to deliver year-over-year cost management and controls in direct and indirect materials and capital expenditures
- Fully utilize TMS and other applications that supports transportation and make FST a best-in-class destination for drivers
- Manage fleet optimization, develop technological improvements to maximize profitability and efficiency
- Use KPI’s and data to drive business decisions and drive continuous improvement by utilizing metrics, tools, procedures, and systems to achieve world-class performance
- Ensure relevant policies, practices, and procedures are developed, maintained, and adhered to, and you will build and influence effective relationships across the organization, including warehouse, technology, finance, and sales & marketing to best deliver bottom line results
- Identify, build, and maintain strategic relationships with critical vendors and continually develop and retain a high performing team by attracting, engaging, and rewarding performance and skill building
- You will be held accountable to comply with all defined business process and the utilization of all technology platforms, as defined by FST
Requirements:

- Take ownership of your Duty to Communicate all required and relevant information to necessary people, departments, and customers
- 5 years in transportation operations
- 3 years in transportation leadership
- Experience in developing and utilizing metrics, both internally and externally to drive performance
- Experience in transportation technology and processes
- Proven ability to attract, lead, and develop talent, including the ability to set direction and delegate
- Proven ability to develop and implement transportation operational strategies that support the business objectives
- In-depth knowledge of transportation best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage cost performance and drive improvement
- Strong business analytical ability along with transportation optimization skills
- Proven ability to improve processes with a history and passion for achieving results
- Excels at making timely decisions
- Capability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally Critical and broad thinking for the good of the organization
