Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate Department of Financial Services Self Insurance Trust Fund insurance programs (automobile and general liability) to include claims coordination, reporting, billing, and litigation support. Manage and coordinate Department of Management Services brokered commercial insurance products (excluding equipment breakdown) to include securing coverage, claims coordination, reporting, and billing. Provide guidance and training to the university community and claimants concerning insurance policies and claim filing procedures.
Review insurance policies to determine coverage and applicability. Provide customer service and technical guidance to University departments concerning the purchase of insurance. Maintain database of insured items for billing requirements. Process, prepare, and submit business or government forms, such as submitting applications for coverage to insurance carriers. Review insurance language in contracts to ensure the University's interests are adequately covered.
Provide the university community guidance for identification of exposures and potential risks through analysis of claims and other indicators, and assist in the development and implementation of programs to mitigate those areas, to include policy and procedure development, and training. Provide risk avoidance, control, transfer, and retention guidance to the university community.
Cross-train on duties of the University Risk Manager. Maintain knowledge of current and evolving risk management, risk avoidance, control, transfer, and retention strategies through ongoing professional development.
Provide subrogation coordination and support to the University and the affected department.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing and coordinating automobile and general liability claims at the commercial level
