Summary: The Upper St. Clair School District is seeking an energetic, motivated and team-oriented Technical Director to join the spring musical production staff.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Technical Director for the FCMS Spring Musical Into the Woods (January - May)
- Coordinate completion of the sets while working with the theatre designers in lighting, costumes, props, and sound, and make changes based on feedback from the director and set designer.
- The technical director will set the work schedule for building the sets based on facility availability. Hours can be evening and weekend as suits their schedule and the availability of the work space and theater.
- Supervise student crews during scheduled build hours with assistance from stage crew sponsor.
- Assist/maintain safety and efficiency of theater technical facilities: stage rigging, construction areas, while working.
- Work with students who have a range of academic levels and interpersonal capacities to develop individual skills as well as fostering a group work ethic within the student technical production team.
- Assist director in scheduling technical support for rehearsals.
- Attend production meetings with spring musical staff.
- Assist coordinating post-production strike and cleanup of all facilities, materials and equipment within a week of the performance.
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will have a degree in Theater Arts with a focus on technical theater or significant experience in a similar position.
- Experience working in high school theater programs a plus.
- Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, be accommodating and adaptable and have excellent team-building capabilities.
- Required skills include scenic construction, and knowledge of shop safety protocols.
- Strong collaboration skills are also essential.
