Description
Under general supervision of the Payroll Manager, assists in managing all aspects of the payroll functions. Maintains confidentiality of payroll information.
- Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports as directed
- Oversee the daily supervision of payroll department staff, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, and problem resolution; assist in the evaluation of staff performance and make recommendations for personnel actions, goals and objectives to motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Oversee and coordinate the production of all biweekly payrolls; oversees the issuance of special checks daily or as needed.
- Monitors, and quality controls the data entry of all payroll records onto the human resources system.
- Assists in coordinating the production and distribution of all employee tax statements and notifications as required by law.
- Prepares all payroll expenses for posting to the general ledger
- Inform supervisor of any discrepancies or concerns.
- Processes and submits payment for federal and state taxes.
- Verifies direct deposit file accurately posts to employees’ account.
- Reconciles employee hours paid against actual hours worked, quarterly tax reports and employee benefits.
- Reconciliation of 401k and Aflac accounts.
- Maintains confidentiality of all employee information.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must be an internal candidate, (enroll tribal members and current employees).
High School diploma/GED required, Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred. A minimum of three years’ payroll experience required. Prior experience with payroll management software. Proficient in in excel. Two years supervisory experience required. Must 21 years of age. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, randomly drug and controlled substance abuse tests, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license in Arizona and California. Tribal Preference given to qualified tribal applicants.
