Title: Respiratory Care Director of Clinical Education
Term: Full-Time, 10-month
Classification: Certified/Exempt

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by USDE; If Bachelor's Degree is not complete, must be completed within 10 months of hire.
- Valid RRT credential and current state license;
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an RRT with a minimum of two (2) years in clinical respiratory care;
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program. Instructor status for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP preferred.

Summary:
The Respiratory Care Clinical Education Coordinator must demonstrate the following:
- Assures that the clinical curriculum and overall operation of the clinical portion of the program meets the current program Goals and Standards.
- Organize the clinical portion of the curriculum.
- Review the development of clinical curriculum.
- Evaluate effectiveness of the clinical program.
- Ensure that all students receive meaningful and parallel clinical experiences.
- Schedule students so that equivalent clinical experiences are provided for all students.
- Ensure that all students receive clinical laboratory training prior to actual clinical affiliate performance.
- Conduct critique visits to all clinical affiliates on a timely basis.
- Routinely evaluate in writing the effectiveness and appropriateness of the program’s clinical curriculum.
- Assist in maintaining continued approval and accreditation of the program.
- Provide subject matter expertise and actively participates in the curriculum development, revision and implementation process.
- Deliver theory and skills training through direct teaching and demonstration of skills.
- Teach the course curriculum as outlined by FTC and DESE.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and medical skills.
- Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
- Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
- Communicate effectively with students, and all affiliated with the course.
- Providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
- Provide an environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and medical-based concepts.
- Manages drug testing, background screening, CPR training, immunization documentation, and onboarding requirements for each clinical site.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Emphasize workplace readiness skills.
Job Goal:
To provide quality education and training relevant to current industry standards, and to ensure students’ success in the respiratory care field.
Essential Job Functions:
- Teach a portion of the curriculum of the Respiratory Care program.
- Communicate effectively with adult students.
- Provide student academic counseling as needed.
- Document student competencies.
- Ensure confidentiality of student records.
- Effectively monitor, instruct, and evaluate students in clinical settings.
- Identify and maximize utilization of available learning opportunities in the clinical settings.
- Act as a positive respiratory care role model to students and peers.
- Participates in the recruitment and retention efforts for the Respiratory Care program.
- Participates in the Respiratory Care Advisory Committee for program.
- Establishes lectures and rotation schedules in conjunction with faculty and clinical affiliates.
- Ensures that Memorandums of Understanding with affiliating agencies for the Respiratory Care program and liability insurance are current and contain appropriate information and initiates any new Memorandums of Understanding necessary to implement the clinical aspects of the Respiratory Care program.
- Contacts affiliating agencies for planning and evaluating of all clinical assignments.
- Maintains records and training of preceptors according to CoARC guidelines.
- Teach certifications of BLS, ACLS, PALS, & NRP.
