Description
I. OBJECTIVE
To provide excellent customer service by performing all the necessary activities for the installation of aerial and/or buried cable.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Construction Supervisor
B. Receives direction from the Foreman
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Personally performs the following activities unique to this position:
1. Prepares and loads vehicles, equipment and necessary tools.
2. Repairs or replaces service drops. Assists with road bores as necessary.
3. Mount protectors on buildings and ground drops in protectors and pedestals.
4. Plow drops for new service.
5. Assists in the locating of underground utilities in the construction area.
6. Assists in the placing of proper safety signs, etc.
7. Digs around other utilities in a manner to protect personal safety and other utilities’ property.
8. Loads and unloads construction equipment.
9. Operates equipment to install cable.
10. Performs all activities necessary for aerial construction.
11. Maintains and operates construction equipment.
12. Ensures proper materials are on hand to complete assignment.
13. Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
14. Performs other duties as directed.
IV. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. Customers: Provides information, responds to questions and/or directs to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
REQUIRED: High school diploma; Valid driver’s license; Possess or willingness to obtain CDL license; Willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary; Minimum of two years experience in installation and maintenance of aerial utilities or minimum two years experience in maintenance and operation of buried construction equipment (trencher, cable plow, boring machine, or backhoe).
DESIRED: Experience in aerial or buried construction; Experience in operating a backhoe and trencher in confined areas.
