About the Role
The Controller will play a key leadership role within the finance team, reporting to the VP of Finance. This position is ideal for an experienced Controller or an ambitious Staff Accountant/Accounting Manager looking to step into a Controller role over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Manage and optimize financial systems, particularly NewStar, to ensure efficient processes.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting, leveraging SQL for custom live reporting as needed.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with the VP of Finance on financial strategy, forecasting, and analysis.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members, including the recently hired AP Clerk, with plans to expand the team.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry best practices.
- Work closely with leadership to support the company’s rapid growth and long-term financial goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years for Controller; 3 years for Staff Accountant/Accounting Manager with an interest in advancing.
- Industry Background: Home building experience strongly preferred.
- Education & Certifications: CPA preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with NewStar is a plus; SQL knowledge for reporting is beneficial.
- Payroll System: Experience with Paylocity preferred; familiarity with ADP is a plus.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
