Job Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role desires strong industry experience in construction, architecture, home building, or real estate, as well as expertise in job costing, project accounting, and financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow to support financial stability and growth.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy.
- Lead job costing and project accounting efforts, tracking costs, revenues, and profitability.
- Work closely with project managers and executives to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate tax planning and reporting with external accountants.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Optimize financial processes and accounting systems for efficiency and scalability.
- Mentor and manage the accounting team to enhance performance and productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in accounting/finance leadership, preferably in construction, architecture, home building, or real estate.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 300 (Timberline), Viewpoint, or other industry-specific platforms.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work across departments.
