- Education and Training Development
a. Organizes and delivers specialized safety and environmental training programs monthly to share hazard control information.
b. Oversees the Respirator and Hearing Conservation initiatives.
c. Aids in the orientation of new employees regarding health, safety, and environmental protocols, providing tours of the facility.
d. Facilitates monthly Safety Committee meetings and manages the committee’s engagement in the safety program.
- Accident Response
a. Serves as the primary employee on call for accident/emergency responses, ensuring supervisors complete near-miss and accident reports, and transport employees to emergency care.
b. Leads the Emergency Response Team (ERT), organizing meetings, managing inventory, updating ERT documentation, and providing necessary training.
c. Acts as the main liaison with the claims management company, ensuring timely reporting of accidents, disputing unjust claims, collecting relevant data, and supplying legal documentation.
d. Conducts accident reviews and enrolls employees in additional safety training as needed.
e. Maintains confidentiality, understands HIPAA regulations, and navigates the employee HR system effectively.
f. Gathers, analyzes, and interprets accident and exposure data, preparing detailed recommendations for corrective actions to minimize hazards. Reviews injury and property damage reports.
- Resource Scheduling, Output Management, and Reporting
a. Regularly surveys workplace conditions to identify and assess health, safety, and environmental risks.
b. Conducts and coordinates inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
c. Develops controls for identified hazards and provides guidance on compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
d. Collaborates with agencies to gather data and conduct inspections for health, safety, or environmental audits, ensuring timely compliance with both announced and unannounced visits.
e. Plans and coordinates environmental compliance programs, ensuring timely submissions related to hazardous waste, air permits, water pollution control, and emergency planning. Manages the application and receipt of necessary permits.
f. Maintains an effective Safety Data Sheets (SDS) program and oversees all aspects of hazardous waste collection, storage, and disposal.
g. Schedules internal compliance audits as needed.
- Resources and Policies
a. Ensures that policies are up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations.
b. Guarantees compliance with all company, federal, and state regulations.
- ESG Committee Involvement
a. Participates in the ESG committee, reporting data and sharing information with relevant parties as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement
A. Acts as an advocate for the 5S program, promoting ongoing improvements in shop and office safety. Collaborates with the Continuous Improvement Manager to identify, plan, and implement 5S enhancements.
B. Remains open to continuous improvement suggestions from others.
C. Shares continuous improvement ideas with the appropriate team members.
- Equipment and Process Maintenance
A. Oversees the maintenance of safety equipment.
B. Monitors the distribution of safety equipment to employees, ensuring proper return, care, and understanding of usage.
