Job Overview:
As a Property Accountant, you will play a key role in managing financial aspects related to the company's real estate properties and construction projects. This includes preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, processing payments, and supporting the senior accounting team. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure proper financial reporting and contribute to the overall financial health of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate monthly and year-end financial statements for properties and construction projects.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile property and project-related accounts, including bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger entries.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Post journal entries, process transactions, and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial data.
- Billing and Invoicing: Assist with the preparation and distribution of invoices for property-related charges and construction progress payments.
- Cash Management: Monitor and manage cash flow for properties, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
- Budget Tracking: Assist in the preparation of project budgets and track costs against budgeted figures to ensure financial goals are met.
- Tax and Compliance Support: Assist with property tax filings, sales tax reporting, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Audit Preparation: Support external auditors with the preparation of documentation for annual audits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other departments to ensure proper accounting for all real estate transactions and construction costs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in property accounting, real estate accounting, or construction accounting. Experience in homebuilding or residential construction is a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management. Familiarity with property management software and construction accounting systems is preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Yardi, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
