COBOL / Mainframe Programmer (Hogan deposits) 100% RemoteThis role requires a highly skilled mainframe programmer specializing in COBOL development, system analysis, and maintenance of mission-critical banking systems. The candidate will play a key role in analyzing business needs, designing technical solutions, and maintaining robust applications for a seamless customer experience. The ideal candidate is self-driven, collaborative, and proficient in both legacy mainframe technologies and modern development practices like Agile and DevOps.ResponsibilitiesDesign and DevelopmentCollaborate with business units to analyze requirements and develop efficient COBOL-based solutions for banking systems.Create, test, and maintain mainframe programs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, IMS DB, and MQ.Perform detailed analysis and design for complex banking applications, ensuring adherence to established standards.Technical ConsultingProvide expertise in Hogan Deposits and other core banking systems.Offer recommendations for improving mainframe processes, tools, and methodologies.Participate in planning and architecture discussions, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business goals.Maintenance and SupportDebug and troubleshoot issues using tools like Endevor, EzTrieve, File-Aid, and TSO.Monitor and improve system performance by evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs).Develop procedures and best practices to maintain system integrity and reliability.Project Management and CollaborationAssist in planning and managing medium to large-scale projects across cross-functional teams.Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure successful system integration and deployment.Contribute to the adoption of Agile and DevOps principles for continuous improvement.Risk ManagementIdentify and mitigate risks in system designs and implementations.Review and approve technical solutions to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 4 years of technology experience, including COBOL programming.Proven ability to analyze and recommend technical solutions to business challenges.Indefinite work authorization (not eligible for sponsorship).PreferredHands-on experience with Hogan Deposits mainframe systems.Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, MQ, and VSAM.Expertise with mainframe development tools such as Endevor, EzTrieve, File-Aid, and TSO.Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.Key Skills and ToolsProgramming Languages : COBOL, JCL, EzTrieve.Database and Storage : IMS DB, VSAM.Middleware : MQ.Development Tools : Endevor, File-Aid, TSO.Methodologies : Agile and DevOps practices.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical financial systems, leveraging your expertise in COBOL and mainframe technologies to deliver reliable and efficient solutions. send resume to joe@fueltalent.com
