Location :
Plattsburgh, NY, just off of Spellman road, near the I87 -parking available on site
Role:
In collaboration with Jennifer, the Human Resource manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day HR needs at our Plattsburgh plant. Providing an on-site support to all employees, while helping to drive a people culture.
Tasks:
- Sign-ups for our different benefits plans and Simple IRA
- Verify finished payroll, double check the managers time-sheets and answer employee questions related to their paystubs
- Using our ERP, communicate remaining PTO, vacation time and no-pay time to employees
- Perform all on-boarding tasks including I-9s, and new employee paperwork
- Full recruitment cycle, including updating internal HR system
- Ensuring facility compliance with state and federal labor laws
- Perform tasks related to disciplinary and termination measures
- o Notably documenting any occurrences
- Communication with local placement agencies
- Assist in accident/incident investigations when required
- Communicate with the Plattsburgh staff when there are HR policy and insurance changes
- Other related office-tasks, such as purchasing supplies may be requiredYou will also work closely with the HR manager to :
- Set-up any company celebrations (Christmas parties, BBQs, etc.)
- Touch base weekly (or more frequently, as required) for guidance and direction on responsibilities
- Start an OHS committee, and ensure compliance
- Learn the Fuji Semec vision and our way of applying local laws
- Unemployment claims
- Contract negotiations
- Implement a 401k (to replace the Simple IRA)
- Support with administrative work for Canadian employees/tasks, time permitting
Requirements :
- Finished Diploma in an HR related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience
- Experience working with an ERP system (HRIS)
- Discreet and ultimately concerned with CONFIDENTIALITY, no exceptions
- Experience with a manufacturing environment (Preferred)
- Ease of communication with different levels of employees
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated and self-directed (your manager is located at the Canadian location)
- Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to travel freely to and from the Canadian office, by car (approximately once per month)
