We are looking to hire a skilled SUSHI ASSISTANT to help cover the sashimi/sushi station of our 31 year established Japanese Restaurant. The ideal candidate(s) will have, at minimum, 1 years Sushi experience. As a Sushi ASSISTANT you will be responsible for production quality during prep and service including; receiving, fileting, portioning and prepping Sushi Bar meats, chicken, fish and produce, follow prep lists, ensuring adequate production of sauces, garnishes,, ensuring dishes are consistently top quality according to our menu, and in general, assisting the team on day-to-day tasks as needed. You will work directly under the guidance and instruction of the Sushi CHEF.
Great knife skills and experience preparing consistent high quality dishes in accordance with food health/safety regulations and restaurant standards are a must. You should also be able to customize customers’ orders according to written preferences and food allergy considerations.
Your participation will be crucial in ensuring the guest have a positive experience. You will be expected to coordinate with the servers and head chef and work together with the Chefs to ensure adhesion to the restaurant standards and health and safety regulations.
The successful candidate is responsible, conscientious, reliable, punctual, organized, and in general a true professional able to maintain the highest restaurant standards at all times.
Note: must be able to work Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday. Sundays are required. Schedule can be arranged with the sushi bar staff.
English Required- Japanese a definite plus.
This is a stable and safe work environment free from drama, drugs, and drunks. Most of the staff has been here for over 25 years.
Fujiya Japanese Restaurant DOES NOT have a fast paced, high stress workflow but does require professionalism, accuracy, cleanliness and teamwork.
