Responsibilities:

As part of the Fukuji & Lum ohana, the PT Tech reports to their Clinic Advisor. As part of the Fukuji & Lum ohana, PT Techs are a permanent component of our Professional Practice Model and should be working towards becoming a healthcare professional. This entry level Function is ideal for graduates in between their Bachelor's Degree and entering a graduate level Physical Therapy program. This Function improves clinic productivity and is a valuable support Function for clinicians and the Front Office.

Roles

• Maintain Open and Honest Communication with the Clinic Advisor
• Scribe for clinician documentation
• Submit HMSA authorization
• Assist PTs and PTAs with patient care
• Assist front office with clinical operations
• Assist in managing clinician’s case overviews

Maintain Open and Honest Communication with Clinic Advisor

• Provide transparent feedback to the Clinical Advisor (CA) about clinic operations, patient care, workflow improvements, and your needs as an employee.
• Participate in daily huddles to discuss obstacles, review clinic workflows, and resolve open issues.
• Communicate any issues or concerns promptly for discussion and resolution.
• Be open to quick bursts and other management tools implemented by the CA.

Scribe for clinician documentation

• Transcribe evaluations, daily notes, and flowsheets.
• Create and document a home exercise program in PT Wired according to PT instructions.
• Educate and reinforce the RTM process with patients.
• Educate and reinforce the next steps for the patient’s care.

Submit HMSA authorizations

• Submit initial authorization and document status in Prompt (EMR) on the same day.
• Submit subsequent authorization and document status in Prompt.
• Communicate with the Front Office for authorizations in review in daily huddles.

Assist PTs and PTAs with clinical operations and case overviews

• Greet patients and collect subjective reports.
• Deliver non-skilled, non-billable care to patients (e.g. set up on the bike or pulleys) in order to increase time efficiency for clinicians and learning opportunities for the PT Tech.
• Clean treatment area/equipment after use.
• Prepare for the next patient.
• Contact lost patients to schedule.
• Task primary clinician to follow-up with patient or discharge.
• Initiate and/or complete quick discharges when appropriate.

Assist Front Office with clinical operations when Front Office is otherwise engaged

• Check-in patients.
• Collect co-pays, co-insurances, and payments for supplies.
• Patient intake at the time of initial evaluation.
• Schedule patients according to their Plan of Care.

The Kaneohe and Honolulu Clinics are open Monday through Friday and your hours would be 7:15am to 6:30pm.

The Aquatic Clinic is open Monday through Friday and your hours would be 8:15am to 5:30pm.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
