Charleston family-owned company seeking experienced Director of Finance to join their team! The successful Director of Finance will manage the accounting department and directly support the Owners and Executive Management team in providing consistent financial team leadership. The Finance Controller position will lead the Accounting Department with a focus on managing timely accounting entry and closing processes while providing accurate and regular reporting. The continuous improvement of the finance processes needed to support the continued growth of the organization will also be a key job component. This position reports directly to the President & COO, who is also a member of ownership.
The successful Director of Finance will be detail oriented, knowledgeable about a variety of areas of business operations and will be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, while being swift and efficient in the execution of assigned duties. Performance will be measured by quality, service, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• In partnership with VP/GM upgrade and establish more defined financial and operating benchmarks for day-to-day processes, revenue forecasting, budgets and regular reporting modalities.
• Drive on-time accounting processes across all business units to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain all accounting records, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking reconciliations, bookkeeping, expense control, sales data and financial activity.
• Close books monthly and provide status of financial condition by interpreting and reporting financial data monthly
• Achieve cash/budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Enforce financial policies and procedures.
• Offer suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
• Integrate all revenue reporting sources into QuickBooks processes.
• Manage the AP and AR reconciliations of all outside selling affiliates and marketing partnerships.
• Manage and maintain QuickBooks accuracy and timeliness to ensure integrity and reliability for reporting, bonus calculations and timely collections of AR.
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements by filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions.
• Provide President /COO & CEO with a bi-weekly cash forecast.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
• Manage direct reports in the Accounting Department.
Education, Certifications and Work Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Master’s Degree preferred
• 6-8 years of progressive accounting professional experiences, preferably with previous experience as a director of finance and controller
• Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable with computer software – working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems is essential, experience with QuickBooks preferred. Willingness to actively learn new software as needed required.
• Demonstrated ability and experience in interacting with all levels of Management and other Associates
• May be required to be available for work on major holidays
• Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident
