Software Engineering Manager (non-technical) needed for a PERMANENT Full-Time (or contract to hire) position with a successful Medical Device/Services company in Raleigh, NC.
Required Experience/Attributes:
- Software Development/Engineering Manager or Scrum Master
- Requirements gathering and Agile prioritization and communication
- Strong Communication skills
- Background in C#, OR C , OR Java software development
- Medical software development - preferred
- Working within IEC 62304 compliance – preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree
The Engineering Manager will have a broad range of responsibilities including technical staff personnel management, agile process management oversight, technical delivery management, and project leadership and reporting. You will manage 4 or more direct reports including Software Engineers and Software QA Engineers. This position is a non-technical management position requiring a person to manage staff. The manager will be responsible for staff and work collaboratively with other leaders and product management staff to deliver high quality applications on a regular schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Manage agile team under your control.
- Manage Software Development and QA to deliver quality applications on time.
- Lead the agile process for your team including project management of the teams’ activities and reporting upward to senior management
- Gather requirements and prioritize deliverables in line with stakeholders including Service Team, Application Support Team, Quality Team, and Sales Team.
- Train and mentor staff
- Personnel management for all development staff
- Work with other staff on release coordination, management, and deployment
- Work with other managers to create and deploy consistent processes
- Coordinate across the organization for effective outcomes
- Leading development staff using an agile methodology
- Teamwork and the ability to interact and communicate successfully with business partners, technology team, recruiting personnel, and professional services.
- Personnel management experience over technical staff including objective setting, career path guidance, and staff performance.
