Fulfillment Center General Manager

Job Description

Fulfillment.com, a rapid growing 3PL (3rd party logistics) company, headquartered in Savannah GA, with fulfillment centers located in Allentown PA, Salt Lake City UT, and Kansas City MO, is looking for a Fulfillment Center General Manager for its Savannah GA facility.

The General Manager provides leadership for the Fulfillment Center Operations leadership team and Operations employees. This position will oversee the activities of 45 total employees. This person is also responsible for setting and achieving high standards and goals throughout the Fulfillment Center with all employees. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees all operations activities in the Fulfillment Center, including attaining maximum production, inventory and shipping/receiving efficiency operating at levels which meet and exceed clients’ needs and established financial benchmarks.
• Developing and leading a team of Ops Managers, Supervisors and hourly employees.
• Mentoring, training and developing Operations Managers for career progression, performance improvement, and recognition purposes.
• Creating, communicating and maintaining control standards in work procedures.
• Building productivity plans by reviewing forecasts and determining productivity requirements to balance labor.
• Recommends policies and programs, which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
• Supervises activities to ensure that shipping is on schedule and product is within quality standards and cost objectives.
• Ensures Fulfillment Center adheres to company policies and practices in fair and equitable manner.
• Manages budget and controls expenses.
• Identifying and leading process improvement initiatives using Lean tools to meet and exceed Client expectations.
• Develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary, in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
• Ensures standards for quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
• Ensures fixed assets are preserved. Approves/ recommends purchases of new equipment and improvements to facility property
• Keeps up to date on information and technology affecting distribution to increase innovation and ensure continual improvement throughout the Fulfillment Center.
• Enforcing and maintaining all safety programs and procedures and ensuring all compliance requirements are followed by all employees.

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or similar related field or a combination of 5 years experience in a management role in a Warehouse and Distribution facility.
• Experience in process improvement using Lean processes, performance metrics, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma.
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, knowing how to motivate your team to meet goals and deadlines.
• Proven ability to lead of team of Managers and their direct report employees to achieving production goals
• Strong problem solving abilities.
• Track record of taking ownership and driving result
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and other Warehousing Operations Systems
• Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
