What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Aide I position at Fulgent Therapeutics Llc?
The Lab Aide I is responsible for supporting the Histology department with all clerical and ancillary duties in keeping all equipment ready to run for patient output. This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard Laboratory procedures and policies.
Responsibilities
- Handles, prepares, and loads/unloads stainers; conducts dehydrating and cover slips slides utilizing manual or automatic systems.
- Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and shuts down Laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments.
- Responsible for filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.
- Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling of all materials. Routinely checks and verifies that surgical case numbers match blocks and slides; prints Labels as appropriate.
- Records in Laboratory logbooks all slides and stains prepared. Logs appropriate information into the Laboratory Information system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors degree in biological sciences strongly preferred.
- Prior lab experience is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- All laboratory personnel will be required to maintain schedule flexibility and when problems arise, may be required to work overtime.
- Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
- Visual acuity (including color discrimination) and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.
- Ability to tolerate extensive periods seated and/or standing.
- Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- May have exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.
- May be required to handle blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents; handle live human specimens, tissues, and bodily fluid.
