Job Overview
The Field Project Quantity Surveyor (Civil/Structural) will oversee the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of construction progress data. Using engineering drawings, this role will prepare quantity takeoffs for civil and structural commodities to support project requirements. The Quantity Surveyor will conduct field inspections to track and report on installed quantities and ensure timely, accurate reporting for project controls and construction management efforts.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare reports with detailed charts and tables.
- Follow established processes, procedures, and formats for corporate reporting.
- Collaborate with the Project Controls team to support project goals and deliverables.
- Support the Lead Planner and Lead Cost Engineer in maintaining systems, tools, and reports.
- Monitor, validate, and compare reported progress from contractors with actual field conditions.
- Assist in reconciling discrepancies between engineering drawings and as-built quantities.
- Validate field change orders and report findings.
- Provide quantity data to support earned value management (EVM) reporting.
- Prepare and update construction progress and earned value reports.
- Suggest alternatives to address project changes or priorities.
- Attend construction and project meetings to share updates and recommendations.
- Support coordination and reporting of construction progress and earned value activities with home office teams.
This role is based at an industrial construction site. Candidates must have experience in construction projects within the industrial gases or oil and gas/petrochemicals sectors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a quantity surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Excel is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a team-focused approach.
- Experience using scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of project management principles, including schedule development, resource management, and risk analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $45.00 - $52.00 per hour
