What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at Full Circle Recovery Services Inc.?
The role of the Behavioral Health assists in providing a safe environment for individuals while they are in the care of the facility, will assist in the admission process, answers client questions and assist the client in adjusting to the program routine. The successful candidate will be the liaison between the client and the nursing staff to report and changes in the client’s physical or mental condition. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a working knowledge of 12-step community-based recovery and a general knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the admission process on new client admission and orientation procedures and schedules.
- Record inventory log of all personal belongings, valuables, and return ticket.
- Transport clients to and from the facility.
- De-escalate AMA and other client problems.
- Provide liaison with nursing staff and other techs to ensure that all clients’ needs are being met, including room assignments.
- Monitor group room and ensure cleanliness after each activity while also ensuring garbage is disposed of properly after each meal.
- Monitor the Day/Group Room and always maintain knowledge of the clients’ whereabouts by performing rounds every 30 minutes.
- Maintain logbook/shift report for the continuity of care. Participate in shift turnover and ensure that the next shift has Tech on duty.
- Educate clients on program rules and regulations as necessary and report infractions appropriately.
- Educate clients by providing direction and guidance in a professional manner.
- Cultivate effective and respectful rapport with clients and staff.
- Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality care as well as continuity of client care.
- Maintain confidentiality of client’s pertinent health information in accordance with HIPPA guidelines.
- Demonstrate adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
- Complete all assigned paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures.
- Educate clients and community members about mental and physical illness, abuse, medication, and available community resources.
- Attend and participate in continuing education, online training, and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Experience working with the substance abuse population preferred.
- Must carry out detailed written and oral instructions, along with the ability to understand human behavior.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor while dealing with emotionally charged individuals and issues.
- Must effectively present information and respond to questions from a diverse demographic group.
- Must have the ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Must have effective listening and communication skills.
- Must have a general knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes, but is not limited to their physical, emotional, intellectual impact on the individual, determining if a medical emergency exists, as well as a knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations as they pertain to the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to 50lbs.
