Job Summary:
The Safety Manager plans and implements all aspects of the company's safety program
to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and principles, and the attainment of
company objectives. This role involves working collaboratively with employees and
leadership to create and maintain a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
The Safety Manager assesses, develops, and implements all safety policies and
procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to company protocols. A
key responsibility is actively increasing employee involvement in safety initiatives,
including supporting and leading safety committees, accident investigations, and safety
audits. This position requires 24/7 availability to respond to emergencies at the facility.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement all aspects of the company's safety program.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and principles.
• Collaborate with employees and leadership to foster a safe and healthy work
environment.
• Assess, develop, and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to company protocols.
• Promote and increase employee involvement in safety initiatives.
• Support and lead safety committees.
• Conduct and oversee accident investigations.
• Perform and manage safety audits.
• Respond to facility emergencies 24/7.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Safety Management preferred. A
relevant degree and commensurate experience will be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of significant safety experience in a large industrial safety
setting (manufacturing operation) required.
• Paper industry experience preferred.
• 500/501 OSHA, First Aid/CPR, and Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
certifications preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and
Outlook) required.
