POSITION OVERVIEW:
The center manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, programs, and services of the recovery community center, which provides peer recovery support services to individuals seeking to initiate or sustain their recovery. The center manager ensures the center operates as a welcoming, resourceful, and supportive environment. Key responsibilities include facility management, staff supervision, coordination of recovery programs, and fostering partnerships with local organizations. This is an exempt position and is based on a 40-hour work week.
This position is funded through the Iowa Health and Human Services’ Recovery Community Centers (RCC) grant program. Full Circle RCC is expected to be open multiple evenings each week, and the center manager is expected to work 3-4 evenings each week and on occasional weekend days for community events and meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Facility Management and Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the recovery community center, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for peers, guests, volunteers, and staff.
§ Work with the leadership team to ensure general utilities, technology, and lease management are maintained; collaborate with contractors and landlord to address needs (e.g., internet, pest control, printing, safety, emergency protocol).
§ Ensure facility policies and procedures are followed by staff, volunteers, and guests.
§ Secure and maintain furnishings as needed, and keep supplies stocked and available.
§ Work closely with the RCC team to address and resolve policy violations or problem behavior.
§ Ensure the RCC is open and has adequate coverage of 40 hours per week, five days per week, and two or more evenings per week.
§ Exchange ideas with staff at other RCC locations and collaborate with other Full Circle Recovery team members on volunteering, recovery coaching, and other strategic priorities.
Peer Recovery Support Services
Help those who are seeking to initiate or sustain their recovery to navigate their own recovery journeys by providing guidance, support, and encouragement.
· Help build and grow programming and peer recovery support services for the new satellite recovery community center in Ankeny.
· Coordinate with the RCC team to design and maintain the center’s programming and core services.
§ Oversee all recovery groups, meetings, and activities; monitor success and progress and intervene to address problems and promote growth.
§ Oversee and promote all individual services offered by the RCC (e.g., resource connections, recovery coaching, and Telephone Recovery Support (TRS)).
§ Ensure a wide variety of pathways are represented in activities and ensure a balance of peer support meetings, educational opportunities, and social activities. Aim to have at least one or two activities every day.
§ Ensure adequate planning, leadership, and resources are in place for new and ongoing activities.
§ Coordinate with external groups/individuals who wish to use the RCC space.
§ Organize and manage the Community Planning Committee which provides input on center activities, groups, and meetings, and ensure the committee is active and meets regularly.
o Work toward making the meetings volunteer run.
o Use meetings as an opportunity for team building, not just information sharing.
o Bring new ideas, opportunities, and challenges to the group for a collaborative process of discussion and decision-making.
Strategic Partnerships
Identify, develop, and manage relationships with key partners that align with the organization's mission and ensure program growth.
§ In partnership with the volunteer coordinator, establish collaborative relationships with strategic community partners that will help advance the recovery community center.
o Schedule meetings to discuss collaboration and introduce our services.
o Schedule presentations to staff/stakeholders at partner agencies.
o Schedule presentations to clients/individuals served by partner agencies.
§ Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate, host, and facilitate activities (e.g., recovery meetings, special events, recovery coaching).
§ Advertise monthly activities:
o Manage updates for the monthly calendar.
o Regularly update the Google calendar linked to the website.
o Create content for the monthly e-newsletter.
o Coordinate distribution of flyers/materials in strategic public locations.
o Promote activities on social media.
Data Collection and Reporting
Ensure timely, accurate, and thorough completion of data entry and reporting by staff and volunteers.
§ Collaborate with the director of learning and program development to participate in data entry, ensure integrity of data, assist with developing grant reports, and help ensure grant compliance, including meeting stated goals and objectives
§ Review volunteer-entered data regularly to correct errors and inconsistencies:
o TRS.
o CorrLinks.
o Recovery Coaching.
o Phone/Email Logs.
o Sign-in Sheets.
o Etc.
Staff Management
Provide day-to-day direction, support, and supervision to staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and align with organizational goals.
§ Monitor employee performance, set goals, conduct evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to help team members improve and succeed.
§ Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and facilitate effective communication among team members to ensure a harmonious work environment.
§ Foster a positive team culture, recognize achievements, and encourage collaboration and accountability within the team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Personal experience with substance use disorder, mental health conditions, recovery, and/or justice system involvement.
- Knowledge of or personal experience with recovery systems, medication-assisted treatment, multiple pathways of recovery, harm reduction, criminal justice systems, person-centered approaches, and peer recovery support services.
- Relevant education and experience in nonprofit management, public administration, criminal justice, counseling, human services, social work, or related field within the nonprofit sector
- Must agree to complete the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches within three months of hire.
- Experience with program development, leadership, partnership building, and site management.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; capable of interacting with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and partnerships simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom), and data management.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work is performed in a typical office or administrative environment as well as at partner organizations in the community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Driving, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, talking, hearing, grasping and finger dexterity, repetitive motions.
- Sitting approximately 50 percent of the time.
- Standing approximately 20 percent of the time.
- Walking approximately 20 percent of the time.
- Driving approximately 10 percent of the time.
- Requires the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force continuously.
- Up to 50 pounds of force infrequently to lift or otherwise move objects.
VISION REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, and extensive reading.
