The Manager, Tasting Room & Field Events is responsible for supporting the local Tasting Room to ensure an exceptional customer experience as well as managing our in-person events with our sales leaders. This individual will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of field events - from booking and logistics to set up and execution - while also leading front-of-house operations at the Tasting Room. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong project management, hospitality, and administrative skills. They should be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong negotiation skills, and is comfortable managing budgets while driving ROI for event and tasting room initiatives.
Oversight And Responsibilities
- Event Planning & Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all in-person events, ensuring smooth logistics, contracting, and scheduling.
- Oversee event setup, including venue layout, product needs, and staffing to ensure a seamless and engaging experience.
- Manage communication and relationships with event partners, vendors, and contractors.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to develop event collateral and promotional materials.
- Develop post-event recaps, analyzing event performance and ROI to inform future strategies.
- Event Revenue Generation
- Build partnerships with local businesses and community leaders to drive awareness of Tasting Room event capabilities.
- Lead outreach efforts to increase local visibility and engagement for the Tasting Room.
- Collaborate with Scout & Cellar consultants to identify and secure event opportunities and referrals.
- Support the development and execution of new event concepts across the company to drive revenue and brand loyalty.
- Customer Experience & Hospitality
- Serve as the front-of-house leader at the Tasting Room, ensuring an elevated customer experience.
- Assist customers with retail purchases, providing recommendations and product insights.
- Pour and educate guests on wine selections by the glass and in curated flight experiences.
- Lead engaging and creative themed events at the Tasting Room to attract and retain local clientele.
- Develop relationships with local non-profits to explore sponsorship and event partnership opportunities.
- Tasting Room Organization & Sales
- Work closely with the Tasting Room Operations Manager to implement an effective retail stocking strategy.
- Maintain visually appealing product displays and ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Strategize front-of-house layouts to create a welcoming and shoppable environment that enhances the customer journey.
- Monitor Tasting Room sales performance and identify opportunities for growth and increased engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in event planning, with both virtual and live event planning experience being essential.
- Wine industry experience is required.
- Strong understanding of wine, with the ability to educate customers and lead tasting experiences.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of managing large event budgets and driving ROI.
- Solid experience in managing large event budgets.
- Experience working with third-party event planning companies is preferred but not required.
- Direct selling experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficient in IT tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other cloud-based software platforms.
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a high level of energy, an outgoing personality, and a positive outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident in negotiating terms of hospitality contracts.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and maintain composure in highly escalated situations.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Availability for travel and after-hours event coordination as needed.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
