ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aid the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in overseeing and managing all kitchen activities. Encompasses food preparation, cooking, and plating to guarantee outstanding quality and uniformity.
- Assist in creating back of house schedules to ensure business needs are met.
- Lead and inspire the culinary team, cultivating a favorable, inclusive workplace that encourages cooperation, innovation, and professional development.
- Collaborate with leadership to craft inventive and seasonally influenced menus, utilizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients when feasible.
- Ensure that all food items are prepared and served according to predescribed recipes, portion control standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain an efficiently organized kitchen, optimizing workflow and implementing effective systems for inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
- Ensure kitchen inventory is well stocked and properly stored.
- Implement and maintain efficient kitchen processes to reduce waste, optimize prep time, and enhance a positive work environment.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, actively participating in regular inspections, and taking necessary corrective measures when required.
- Assist in instructing and mentoring kitchen staff, providing guidance on proper cooking methods, safety protocols, and sanitation practices.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, continually seeking opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication, efficient service, and timely resolution of any patron concerns or special requests.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, promoting a clean and safe work environment.
- Regular and reliable attendance is a fundamental requirement of this position. Employees are expected to be punctual and consistently present during their scheduled work hours to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the business.
- Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed or requested.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Extensive culinary expertise with in depth knowledge of various cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and presentation aesthetics. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, is capable of motivating and inspiring a team, and can foster a positive, inclusive work culture.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts Degree or Certification, or the equivalent in education and experience. Three or more years of high volume cooking experience, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: ServSafe Certification or similar.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES: Outstanding organizational and time management abilities, including effective multitasking and prioritization. Profound knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring strict compliance with health code standards. Passion for high quality cuisine, creativity, and staying current with industry trends and innovations. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion, including frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, crouching, bending, stretching, reaching, pushing, kneeling, squatting, and standing for an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties require lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store, or move kitchen, restaurant, or general office supplies and equipment. Essential duties involve a flexible work week with additional hours routinely required.
COMPENSATION AND BENESFITS:
$68,000 based on experience
