POSITION SUMMARY :
The Senior Inventory Planning Analyst plays a pivotal role in managing the entire inventory lifecycle, from initial budgeting and purchasing to reorders and inventory maintenance. This role requires expertise in inventory demand forecasting, analyzing key metrics, and optimizing sales and stock performance across both print and web channels. The Senior Inventory Planning Analyst is also responsible for system testing, developing and maintaining inventory-related reports, and establishing standard procedures to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management. Additionally, the individual will serve as a mentor and resource to Inventory Analysts, providing guidance and support on daily operational tasks.
This role demands a strong understanding of business operations and close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Planning, and Sourcing, to ensure optimal inventory levels and efficient product life cycle management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborate with Inventory Control Supervisors and cross-functional teams to develop and execute inventory strategies throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives and sales goals.
- Lead the analysis and updating of demand forecasts, utilizing sales history, rate of sales, weeks of supply, safety stock levels, and product quality issues to identify opportunities for inventory optimization.
- Support Inventory Directors and Managers in generating weekly demand projections for assigned categories, ensuring inventory availability aligns with sales and operational targets.
- Manage in-season inventory through careful analysis and balancing of sales, margin, markdown, and sell-through goals to maximize profitability.
- Interpret and manage exception reporting using Tableau, identifying areas of concern and recommending corrective actions to maintain inventory accuracy and alignment.
- Build, maintain, and update SMI media budget information within the mainframe, ensuring that inventory levels and budget forecasts are consistently aligned.
- Conduct weekly projections for both print and web channels, analyzing sales trends, color and size selling patterns, and style return rates to determine inventory needs and inform future media plans.
- Review and analyze Demand Analysis Reports to identify sales trends and item performance, adjusting future media plans accordingly to optimize inventory levels.
- Provide data-driven recommendations based on stock-to-report analysis, focusing on backorders, cancellations, and lost demand.
- Act as the primary point of contact for production teams, ensuring timely reordering, follow-up on PO shipping status, and regular communication with management on the status of critical orders.
- Oversee top backorder and anticipated backorder items, tracking shipments via LogNet and prioritizing expedited orders, in collaboration with designated coordinators.
- Serve as the lead liaison for business partners utilizing the LogNet system, ensuring seamless communication and execution of inventory processes.
- Identify and recommend actions to clear overstocks, including markdowns, promotions, and in-season web clearance, while optimizing retail pricing to accelerate sell-through of excess inventory.
- Maintain overstock disposition codes and manage the transition of season-end overstocks to liquidation channels, ensuring timely and efficient turnover.
- Mentor and train new Inventory Analysts, providing guidance on inventory processes, systems, and procedures to ensure team success.
- Monitor and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) for backorders, cancellations, and stock levels, driving performance improvements and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with Planning teams to align inventory levels with the JE assortment plan, ensuring a seamless transition of inventory data into the mainframe system.
