Overview Summer Journey Overview: We anticipate programming throughout all NYC boroughs, though most positions concentrated in the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan. We are committed to thoughtfully matching staff with their grade and location preference to the best of our ability. Final placement decisions occur after the offer is accepted and all onboarding tasks are completed successfully. The Summer Journey Program is not expected to begin before June 30th and will likely run for 6 full weeks with a Monday through Thursday schedule. A required in person training will occur the week of January 23rd. Role Overview: The Summer Journey Teacher provides contracted instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in literacy, mathematics, STEM, and related content areas to small groups of K-12 (primary program K-7) students. The effective teacher delivers all program material to students and keeps students excited and engaged in the learning process. The teacher also communicates and conferences with parents to provide information on student progress.Â

Maximize instructional time, meeting student needs through pacing, wait time, and differentiation.Â

Foster Empowering Classroom CultureÂ
Engage students by establishing a clear purpose for learning, encouraging critical thinking, welcoming intellectual risk-taking, and fostering a growth mindset.Â
Ensure students take ownership of their learning and their growth.Â
Establish clear routines and procedures that set students up for success.Â

Develop and Refine ExpertiseÂ
Become acquainted & comfortable with comprehensive curriculum proven to combat summer slide. Receive direction and coaching to continuously improve your skills.Â

Document Student Learning Exposure and OutcomesÂ
Establish and maintain accurate data that empowers analysis of the support we provide to students, including attendance data, academic data, student forms, and inventory of educational materials and supplies.Â
