Description
Summary: Under the general direction of the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor or Chemist, perform a variety of chemical analyses and physical testing of raw materials and finished products. Use all types of analytical instruments and test equipment. Clean laboratory equipment. Obtain samples from production or inventory. Take readings and record data.
Essential Duties:
- Comply with all laws, regulatory requirements, and safety rules.
- Work with others, lab supervisor, quality assurance, compounders, chemists, supervisors, line leads, chemical department, maintenance, and management to meet existing product production schedules.
- Keep the lab clean and items sterilized.
- Calibrate lab equipment.
- Prioritize and complete regularly scheduled and sporadic tasks in a timely manner.
- Analyze chemicals, raw materials, water, and products for quality.
- Identify, document, graph, and analyze inconsistences, areas of difficultly, and variances.
- Problem solve for solutions to bring items back into required specification range.
- Communicate quality assurance issues.
- Create and retain accurate and complete documents in accordance to retention requirements.
- Keep samples organized and rotated in accordance to retention requirements.
- Follow regulatory disposal laws and procedures for wastewater and chemicals.
- Document formulas and formula revisions by Engineering.
- Create and issue formulas for job packets.
- Being present at work and adhering to assigned work schedule including over time

Language Skills:
Must be able to read, write and speak English, bilingual a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of general chemistry and related subject matter are required. Some college and experience in laboratory work are desired.

Work Environment:
Work is performed under generally good conditions with some machine noise, fumes, oil, and dirt present. Adequate lighting, ventilation is present. Extreme outdoor temperatures will influence the temperature in the production area.
Exposure to usual minor shop injuries such as cuts bruises, burns and sprains are inherent in the job. Some exposure to more serious hazards; however, probability of serious injury will be minimized by adherence to established safety regulations.
Training will be provided to personnel who may occasionally wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time;
- Use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;
- Reach with hands and arms;
- Talking or hearing;
- Occasional walking;
- Stoop; kneel; crouch;
- Lifting/handling: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
