THE POSITION
The Principal is the educational leader and executive of the school. The principalship involves the administrative and supervisory responsibility for a 9-12 grade high school of 1,950 enrollment. The primary role is that of instructional leader within the school, with a responsibility to ensure that every student enrolled has an equal opportunity to study, learn, and graduate.
The Principal will plan, organize, develop and implement District instructional goals and objectives; develop procedures for evaluating program activity and operational effectiveness; develop, organize and direct activities pertaining to staff development and staff training programs, and handle other related functions as directed by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: Required - Valid Supervisory/Administrative, Secondary Administrative or General
Administrative Services Credential.
Education: Required - M.A. or M.S. Desired/Graduate training at the doctoral level.
Other Qualifications: Must possess a valid California Driver's License at the time of hire.
Experience: Administrative experience on the level of assistant principal or principal in a high school of 2,000 or more students is required as evidence of successful leadership which includes supervision of instructional programs, curriculum development, staff utilization, pupil services, and physical plant development.
Personal Qualifications: Character, personality, appearance, proper social capability to relate effectively with staff, students, and community; demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of groups and organizations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide leadership to others so that the teaching process can be successfully accomplished (including the selection and training of department leaders);
-Maintain a positive image of the school; organize school operations to meet district goals and objectives;
-Provide a leadership role in curriculum development and the implementation of approved courses of study;
-Develop and administer the school budget as provided within District budget guidelines;
-Provide an effective and informative parent and community relations programs; and
-Engage the staff in a comprehensive school improvement program.
