SUMMARY

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the respective site as well as the as well as overall planning, administration and implementation of the education content area in the accordance with the Head Start Federal Performance Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensure a safe workplace by enforcing Agency safety policies and any State, Federal or other applicable safety regulations.

Remain up to date and follow all FCAA, Head Start, and NYS Day Care Regulations, policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, NYS DOH, OSHA and Fulmont Policies and Procedures.

Participate in Management and Staff Meetings.

Participate in the self-assessment and community assessment process.

Plan and participate in Child/Parent Orientation in coordination with the management team.

Communicate concerns to the management team as needed.

Plan and participate in staff pre-service training in coordination with the management team.

Conduct job performance evaluation on all staff in conjunction with the content area manager.

Attend Parent Committee Meetings.

Maintain direct communication with all component managers in regard to their area.

Maintain MAT certification.

Maintain CLASS certification.

Ensure the implementation of approved agency curriculum in all classrooms at the center(s) by doing spot checks in the classrooms to ensure the lesson plans are being followed.

Establish and implement parent’s activities in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and program guidelines.

Responsible for handling all parent complaints and communicating this information with the ECS Director.

Ensures completion of timely submissions of center volunteer sheets.

Schedule and conduct observations in each classroom and document observations monthly.

Communicate observations of other staff involved in classroom activities to the appropriate supervisors.

Coordinate efforts of kindergarten registration, orientations, and kindergarten developmental screenings as needed.

Schedule and conduct periodic teaching staff meetings, and document minutes to each meeting.

Complete Education Component Area Reports and submit to the Education Director.

Develop, implement, and monitor a classroom volunteer parent program.

Ensure a safe workplace by enforcing Agency safety policies and any State, Federal or other applicable safety regulations.

Communicate to the Assistant Education Director that all children with disabilities receive full range of comprehensive services normally available to all Head Start children.

Ensure each child receives required screenings (behavior, social/emotional, cognitive, motor, language, perceptual, sensory and developmental) and indicated follow-up services as defined in the Head Start Federal Performance Standards and OCFS Day Care Regulations.

Coordinate with Education Director regarding training for staff and parents to provide skills to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises education staff as well as oversees the other staff on site. Conducts supervisory duties in accordance with FCAA and CSEA Union policies regarding interviewing, hiring, and training of staff, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising staff performance, disciplining staff, and solving problems and issues.

SIGNATURE AUTHORITY

Time sheets/mileage sheets; delivery receipts; receipt of goods and services stamp; general business-related correspondence/letters; internal program specific documents.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four-year degree in early education required or a plan of study to receive a four- year degree within the next two years of job placement. Prior work experience in the field of preschool education required and supervisory experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents and written communications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively speak in both one-on-one and group situations involving children, parents, staff and community members. Bilingual a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to utilize basic math skills, such as counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively and efficiently problem solve.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver License. CPR/First Aid Certification a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Reliable transportation required. Basic computer skills a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
