Summary
Performs skilled work associated with the electrical trade
Essential Duties
- Utilizes schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system, lighting system or equipment
- Applies Journeyman skills, experience, and general knowledge to complete the maintenance tasks associated with the electrical equipment
- Utilizes appropriate instruments to test circuits and systems and draws upon expertise for diagnosis and emergency repairs
- Adjusts, repairs, and replaces equipment, fixtures, and components
- Installs new equipment
- Uses all shop machinery, testing equipment, tools and safety practices as appropriate for trade to complete assigned tasks
- Assists engineers in diagnosing problems and recommending correctable action
- Serves as leader for less skilled assistants occasionally
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certification / Licensure
Journeyman Electrician License required
Master Electrician License preferred
Valid Georgia Driver License required
Eligible to acquire a CDL
Must be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers
Experience Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience required; 3 years of experience as a commercial electrician preferred
