Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by one year of experience in training, teaching, or working with developmentally disabled clients; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: None.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Examination:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

The purpose of this classification is to perform operational duties related to training, instructing, and providing support to developmentally disabled clients in an assigned location including assisting skills trainers in proper support/instruction techniques, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining and preparing various reports. Training Center Instructor is distinguished from Behavioral Health Assistant in that the former prepares curriculums and conducts classroom instruction, whereas the latter screens and evaluates potential behavioral health clients.
Essential Functions:

Plans and prepares training curriculums and conducts classroom instruction for behavioral health clients in basic living and social skills.
Assists skills trainers in the proper techniques of caring for and instructing behavioral health clients.
Establishes objectives for individuals and groups of clients.
Prepares lesson plans and materials for classroom use.
Assists assigned staff in developing new programs for clients.
Explains objectives and guidelines of assigned training center to the community.
Performs various administrative duties as required.
Maintains and prepares various reports and records.
