Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that inventory is prepared and set up for the Shipping department to fill customer orders, including Pulling, Bin filling and Bin Running.
- Utilize a hand-held scanner to perform inventory related processes.
- Use a computer to access ERP system in order to verify locations, look up answers to daily inventory questions, and solve inventory related problems.
- Process Return to Bin items using the internal RTB procedure.
- Actively participate in cycle counting on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy.
- Contribute ideas to improve or optimize warehouse procedures.
- Assist the Shipping and Receiving departments when workload dictates.
- Manage an area of the department during peak season (5-50 employees).
- Train large groups of temporary staff, mentoring them as they learn the roles during their shift.
- Direct temporary staff to applicable work areas as dictated by workload prioritization
- Offer encouragement and further tips and training to improve seasonal employee job satisfaction and performance.
- Offer general guidance and feedback to temporary employees in their day-to-day work
- Move inventory stored on pallets as identified.
- Move shipments from receiving to overstock and pull overstock down to make it available for shipping. This involves utilizing equipment such as pallet jacks and Order Picker machines.
- Responsible for successful oversight and completion of various projects. (i.e., inter-warehouse stock transfers, consolidation, upgrades in warehouse layout).
Compensation: Base rate $15.50 an additional $2.00 per hour when machine operations trained AND working on a designated machine.
Requirements
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
- Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Willing to train, complete and pass Machine Operator training including Road Test.
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a distribution center or warehouse environment.
- Previous experience operating basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jack, overstock puller, forklift.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience meeting goals
- Ability to understand and consistently follow safety procedures.
- With limited supervision, work independently according to departmental workload.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance.
- Ability to remain calm and demonstrate patience in a fast-paced work environment.
- Good verbal and written communications
- Ability and availability to work extended hours and days during high order volume; especially during PEAK season where long hours are regularly expected.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Maintain flexibility to be trained and work in other departments as needed.
