What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Environmental Campaign Positions position at Fund for the Public Interest?
This summer, work to protect the bees in our canvassing and field manager positions.
Currently, almost a quarter of bumblebee species are at risk of going extinct, including the American bumblebee. A big reason for this are pesticides called neonics. And worse, seed companies are now coating seeds with these poisons. We know the chemical industry is working hard to keep these pesticides in use. That’s why in our Denver office, we're working to support a ban on seeds that are coated with these bee-killing pesticides.
In order to stop these seeds from being coated in bee-killing pesticides, we are hiring canvassers and field managers to educate the public about the issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence decision-makers.
As a canvasser this summer you will:
- Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues
- Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills
- Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community
