Head of Risk (Fundbox, Inc., Plano, TX) : Develop and implement a comprehensive credit risk strategy to optimize portfolio performance and boost profitability for the company. Design and enforce credit risk policies, guidelines, and procedures to minimize risk, ensure compliance with regulations, and fulfill obligations to key strategic partners. Lead a cross-functional team of data scientists and credit analysts in designing and building cutting-edge machine learning models and credit underwriting frameworks. Oversee the creation, validation, monitoring, and continual improvement of decision models and strategies across the customer lifecycle, encompassing areas such as new customer acquisition, underwriting, retention, ongoing credit line management, and fraud prevention. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of machine learning models, ensuring accuracy and robustness. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of credit policies and data science models into existing credit systems and infrastructure. Conduct in-depth analysis of profitability and loan loss forecasting at the product level, segmenting the portfolio to identify trends and forecast potential risks. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of credit risk performance and decision models, providing regular reports to senior management. Proactively monitor market conditions, industry trends, and emerging best practices to identify opportunities and anticipate and mitigate potential risks. Recruit, lead, and mentor high-caliber professionals in the areas of credit risk, data science, and analytics to enhance the company's capabilities and drive profitable growth.Conduct risk assessments and identify potential areas of vulnerability, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. Stay abreast of regulatory requirements related to data science and machine learning models, ensuring compliance in credit risk management practices. Apply knowledge in credit and model risk management. Develop and implement credit risk management strategies. Apply knowledge in credit underwriting frameworks and machine learning models. Understand regulatory compliance requirements in credit-related activities. Manage and develop high-performing teams. Manage business analysts and data scientists. Apply analytical and quantitative skills. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including third-party vendors. Demonstrate ability to align risk management strategies with overall business goals and objectives. Must have experience with the following in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks : Knowledge of credit and model risk management; Experience developing and implementing credit risk management strategies; Experience applying knowledge of credit underwriting frameworks and machine learning models; Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in credit-related activities; Experience managing and developing high-performing teams; Experience managing business analysts and data scientists; Experience applying analytical and quantitative skills; Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including third-party vendors; and Demonstrated ability to align risk management strategies with overall business goals and objectives. Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field, and at least five (5) years of experience as a Risk Manager, Financial Manager or related occupation.
