POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Content Specialist is responsible for proofreading, copyediting, and ensuring accuracy of all printed and digital content. They will have the opportunity to support quality of a variety of content. This includes, but is not limited to emails, blogs, product packaging, printed marketing materials, and social media posts. This position requires a critical eye and exceptional attention to details when reviewing content for accuracy and compliance. Although there may be occasional opportunities for written copy creation, the primary focus of this role is copyediting, proofreading, and management of copy guidelines.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with business hours Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; work outside of these days and hours occur occasionally in order to meet the needs of the business. This position is located onsite in Olympia, WA and reports directly to the Director, Marketing. Local travel will be required from time to time. Responsibilities herein represent typical elements and criteria considered necessary to perform the job successfully. Other duties may be assigned to meet emerging business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains and updates written copy guidelines and ensures adherence to guidelines.
- Maintains consistency of messaging across all platforms as established in copy guidelines.
- Reviews all marketing copy, packaging and content to ensure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors, while also checking for accuracy and compliance.
- Works with Content Writer and other members of the marketing team to ensure messaging is consistent across various platforms.
- Works closely with QA to understand DSHEA guidelines and becomes well-versed in compliant messaging.
- Manages QA submissions and records feedback in copy guidelines.
- Assists with creating written marketing content as needed.
- Collaborates closely with the team to understand the objective and intent of desired content.
- Continuously audits print and digital marketing to identify areas where messaging could be improved or updated.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong writing background with exceptional proofreading, copyediting, and copywriting.
- Two plus (2 ) years’ experience as a proofreader, copyeditor, or related role.
- BA in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field; substantially relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional eye for detail.
- Experience in adapting to differing audience perceptions and perspectives with all written material.
- Highly developed organizational skills with experience in meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar word processing platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with CPG product copy.
- Experience in the natural products industry.
- Basic knowledge of DSHEA guidelines.
- Experience with Asana or similar project management platforms.

Wage Range (DOE): $30.15 per hour - $50.25 per hour
