The Assistant Product Developer is responsible for supporting Loungefly’s Product Development team in day-to-day tasks. This position’s primary duties include creating technical specs for small accounts or product categories.
Your Superpowers in Action
- Create 15-20 product tech packs per week and update them as needed based on sample feedback and/or licensor changes
- Work with Loungefly’s factories by submitting completed or updated tech packs; maintain consistent communication with the factories for questions on submissions, updates to tech packs and providing detailed sample comments
- Work closely with manager and Design team on techniques and sizing for each spec
- Collaborate with Art, Design, PD, and Sales on new product ideas and techniques Partner with manager to develop an understanding of production limitations and costing for items they handle
- Before sampling, review and provide comments on 3D drawings from the factory to ensure samples are as close to the initial design as possible
- Reviews all samples with Manager and/or Design team for direction on next steps
- Requests additional samples/panels from the factory based on sample comments
- Reviews and provide feedback to Sales and factory on all TOP samples
- Examine packaging on all TOP samples to ensure accuracy
- Check physical samples for all items and provide feedback or comments for review with manager and Design
- Maintains and organizes sample room
- Unpack sample boxes and distributes samples to Sales, Project Management and the PD teams
- Ship out sample packages as needed
- Review and regularly maintain all project management tracking documents in the Product Development tracking system to ensure data accuracy
- Creates linesheets and licensor submission sheets.
- Works with Packaging Designer to provides the Approvals with all legal and packaging info for all items.
- Generates styles numbers and descriptions for all styles submitted.
Must-Have Superhero Gadgetry
- Degree in Fashion Design or Product Development required
- 2 years’ previous experience in Product Development or technical design
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Abode Photoshop experience a plus
- Relevant experience with costing, bill of materials (BOM) creation, spec sheet (tech pack) creation, design translation, product and material experience preferred
- Understanding of product creation and product lifecycle preferred
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to communicate within all levels of the organization, as well as with external partners, vendors and licensors
- Strong attention to detail and organization to keep up with product changes through the development and production process
- Should be comfortable working independently as well as with a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with product tracking tools and software a plus
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross functional teams
- Can handle multiple projects at once with the same degree of priority
Work Environment Requirements
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, lift or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee will frequently have to squat and bend. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without physical limitations or restrictions. The employee must be able to commit to a 40-hour workweek in office.
