JOB SUMMARY
The Mover/Driver is critical in leading Furnish Hope’s mission of providing essential furnishings to those in need. This position is responsible for the receipt, dispersal, and stewardship of all furniture, houseware, and other in-kind donations.. This will require physical lifting as well as vehicle transport of items. This will also include working with and leading teams of volunteers, interfacing with donors, and coordinating with Furnish Hope staff. This role requires the ability to work with diverse populations, communicate effectively, and ultimately be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the supervisor and the mission.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift objects weighing 100 pounds or more, repeatedly
- Good general health
- Ability to safely and confidently drive a pickup truck and trailer
- Ability to represent Furnish Hope’s mission and vision to teams and the public
RESPONSIBILITIES
Space Management
- Maintain a safe and organized facility by regularly purging, organizing, and cleaning
- Lead volunteers in processing donations: determining whether to donate to another thrift store, distribute to a recipient, store, or dispose of items
Transportation Management:
- Lead driver safety training
- Manage all truck and trailer service and maintenance aspects and take necessary actions to ensure safety
Team Member Coordination:
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Storefront Lead to manage logistics (space utilization, donations, transportation)
- Ensure effective coordination between the warehouse and storefront for the seamless flow of donated items and optimized space utilization
- Cultivate relationships with partner agencies
Volunteer and Donor Relationship Cultivation:
- Embody a teacher’s heart for leading volunteer crews
- Embody a gracious heart for receipt and stewardship of donations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position “lives” in our Donation Center that has large garage doors. The environment is temperate but will benefit from proper layering of clothing. It is a warehouse complete with dust and heavy items and will additionally benefit from close-toed shoes.
