What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Craftsman (Furniture Repair Tech) position at Furnitureland South?
The Master Craftsman’s job involves Inspecting and repairing all furniture in the most effective and efficient way possible with emphasis on restoring color and finish to damages / defective furniture. The Master Craftsman should be highly skilled in all aspects of case goods and upholstered furniture repair.
*Salary Range $19-$21*
Essential Functions and responsibilities

- Inspect and repair furniture completely and as quickly as possible.
- Read all paperwork on each piece and follow instructions.
- Stay in constant communication with management concerning lost paperwork, expensive repairs, repairs not 100%, manufacture defect, supplies, loss of tools, machinery, etc.
- Work with other shop technicians to increase knowledge, efficiency, and quality of repairs.
- When repairs are completed, sign paperwork, scan, and direct to new area.
- Accept responsibilities in your area.
- Responsible for housekeeping in your area.
- Inspect all furniture and make repairs in a timely manner.
- Follow all safety procedures / policy. (i.e. label containers appropriately).
- Sign all paperwork to ensure accurate tally of your repairs.
- Secure areas that hold supplies at the end of each day.
- Remove all discarded materials for material handler to dispose of.
- Be willing to work in other buildings/home, on and off campus.
- Perform various related duties as required.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Be open to suggest any ideas for improvement.
- Arrive punctually and consistently for work for normally scheduled hours. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays.

Required Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of material handling experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience working in furniture.
Two or more years’ experience inspecting and making furniture repairs.
Working conditions
This job operates in a professional shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers and smartphones. Ability to push, pull, and maneuver equipment or furniture using a dolly, hand truck, or wheeled cart. Other equipment as described above; hand trucks, air brushes, burn in oven, burn in knives, screwdrivers, box cutters, shears, scratch awl, sander, spray gun, dollies, wheeled carts, etc.
Safety and Precautionary Requirements
- Familiarity with location and usage of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Familiarity and compliance with all safety rules.
Emotional Demands:
The worker must possess sufficient emotional resilience to operate within a sometimes hectic environment involving simultaneous priorities, rapid response situations, irate customers and generally chaotic situations. The worker must therefore be even tempered, cool minded and exhibit a high threshold for frustration.
