What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Numerical Control Programmer position at FurstProfessionals?
The CAM Programmer will help create CNC programs for NPI as well as improve existing programs through robust CAM system to optimize machining and minimize setups. They will help select and test tooling to ensure maximum quality and efficiency. They work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and operations teams to troubleshoot, optimize performance, and implement process improvements with machining and automation processes.
Essential Functions

- Leads and administers use of the CAM system to create CNC programs off-line and ensure their alignment with part drawing and setup documentation.
- Validate and refine CAM programs (as well as setup documentation) on the CNC machines as needed to achieve process capability and production release.
- Assist with the process for distributing CNC programs in a controlled manner to ensure only 1 program per part on a given machine and the corresponding setup documentation is available in advance to support quick changeover setup prep.
- Assist with resolving process / production issues including corrective actions to help eliminate / reduce scrap and rework.
- Assists in the analysis of equipment and tooling for improvements in methods, procedures, or design to improve profitability.
- Good working knowledge of many types of cutting tools and how to apply them.
- Help mentor / coach Setup employees on best practices for CNC programs, tooling selection and improving tooling life / minimize tooling costs.
- Any/all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing/office environment. Must be able to operate a computer/keyboard, ability to use phone, and sit for extended periods of time. Communicate using speech, hearing, written, and vision skills. May also work occasionally on the production floor requiring the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to- safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The standard working hours for exempt employees are set at 45 hours per week with an additional 30-minute lunch break every day. General business hours are 6:30 am- 5:00 pm. this position follows a specific work schedule of Monday through Friday 7:00 am- 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Compensation
In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Currently, this position is classified as a Quarterly Bonus within the Individual Contributor tier.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience
- Minimum of 5 years of direct CAM programming experience
- Experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and GD&T
Preferred Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of machine shop experience
- 1 years G & M coding experience
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
