Job Summary :
Packaging Engineers play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our product packaging, from conception to production. They collaborate across departments to develop and optimize packaging solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Hours : 6am to 2 : 30pm OR 8am to 4 : 30pm M-F
Duties / Responsibilities :
Product Development and Testing :
Directly participate in the production of novel products
Spearhead the development and production of product and packaging samples, from initial ideation to final product.
Conduct comprehensive shelf-life trials and production trials to assess product and packaging performance under various conditions.
Document process and product information and feedback, maintaining organized records for reference and analysis.
New Item Set-Up and Launch :
Serve as the primary liaison between departments during new item set-up and production launches.
Implement a structured process for trial runs and production launches, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
Monitor product safety and quality during active project phases, implementing necessary measures to maintain standards.
New Production Line Set-Up :
Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to assist in the design and decision-making processes, for equipment selection and modification for new packaging lines.
Assist in the optimization of production line layouts to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
Yield Improvement :
Set and monitor yield goals in coordination with the production team and costing personnel.
Establish measurable objectives for yield improvement and work closely with production staff to achieve them.
Provide comprehensive reports on yield data and improvement initiatives to the costing team.
Skills / Abilities :
The successful candidate will have the following skills :
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Packaging Engineering, Food Science, or a related discipline or equivalent experience
Strong background in food science, food packaging, or packaging materials and processes
Understanding of food science principles and a comprehension of packaging materials and processes
A demonstrated passion for process and product development, coupled with an innate problem-solving acumen, illuminates a drive for continuous improvement and excellence.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments to achieve common goals.
