Assistant Controller

Fuse3 Solutions is partnering with an Oklahoma company to hire an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing the financial operations of the organization. This role plays a key part in overseeing internal accounting processes, managing the accounting team, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles in a mid-sized company environment.

Key Responsibilities Of The Assistant Controller

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Analyze financial data and summarize financial status in reports for management.
• Supervise the accounting team, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and timely month-end close processes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper account coding, posting, and reconciliation.
• Oversee account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that ensure compliance and strong internal controls.
• Assist with annual budgets and periodic forecasts, especially related to operations and capital expenditures.
• Monitor performance against budget and analyze variances.
• Prepare documentation for audits and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support compliance with tax regulations and industry-specific standards.
• Stay up to date with financial and regulatory changes affecting the industry.
• Collaborate with operations to evaluate capital investments.
• Offer recommendations based on cost-benefit analysis of fleet expenditures.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, encouraging growth and collaboration.
• Review team output to ensure accuracy and timely financial reporting.
• Promote best practices and provide training on updated systems and procedures.
• Assist with special financial projects, system upgrades, and process improvements.
• Help manage relationships with external vendors, auditors, and advisors.
  
  

Required Qualifications Of The Assistant Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 4–6 years of accounting experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in transportation or logistics.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• In-depth understanding of GAAP
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• High attention to detail in financial reporting and reconciliation.
  
  

Salary of the Assistant Controller is commensurate with experience and education in the $75-85,000 range plus benefits.
