Position Summary:
Fusion Academy Charlotte is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual for a combined role as a Homework Café® Teacher and a STEM Teacher. This unique role includes differing responsibilities, where you will split your time between supporting students in the Homework Café® and teaching Math and Science subjects.
As a Homework Café® Teacher, you will supervise and mentor students in the Homework Café®, ensuring they stay focused, organized, and motivated while completing their homework. You will assist students in developing executive functioning skills and help foster positive, productive relationships. Strong skills in time management, organization, and communication are essential to this role.
As a STEM Teacher, you will teach Math and Science subjects to students in grades 6-12, including Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and potentially Statistics. This portion of the role involves providing one-on-one instruction, tailoring lessons to meet each student's academic needs while encouraging their growth in STEM subjects.
This is a dual part-time role with a balance of responsibilities, requiring proficiency in both teaching Math and Science as well as supporting students in the Homework Café® setting.
Pay Range: $26.00 / hr

Key Responsibilities
- Homework Café® Teacher Responsibilities:
- Oversee students as they complete homework, providing guidance on time management, task prioritization, and study habits.
- Support students in developing executive functioning skills, helping them stay organized and focused.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support, fostering a positive and productive environment.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and teachers to track student progress and address any concerns.
- Keep the Homework Café® environment clean, organized, and conducive to student learning.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and reflection to enhance teaching and student support.
- Teach and provide one-on-one instruction in Math (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus) and Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and potentially Statistics) for students in grades 6-12.
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons, tailoring instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Track student progress, provide regular assessments, and maintain accurate records of academic performance.
- Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes problem-solving, critical thinking, and a love for STEM subjects.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to align STEM instruction with campus goals and students' needs.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required for consideration, as well as a higher level Math and/or Science background.
- Solid subject matter knowledge in a majority of these areas: Math , Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and possibly Statistics at grade levels 6-12.
- Teaching credentials are a plus but are not mandatory.
- Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.
- The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
- Candidate must be prepared to teach and tutor material at a high school level immediately.
- Expertise in the relevant subject area.
- Understand learning differences and emotional difficulties.
- Ability to mentor as a positive role model.
- Understand and support each student's Formal Education Plan (FEP).
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
