We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Humanities and Executive Function Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute in our 1:1 classes.
Position Overview:
The Humanities and Executive Function Teacher will work closely with middle and high school students to deliver instruction in English and Social Studies, and provide executive functioning support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging instruction in humanities subjects, including English Language Arts and Social Studies
- Assist students in improving executive function skills, including planning, initiating and prioritizing tasks, staying organized, and managing deadlines
- Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement strategies to support students with diverse learning needs
- Adapt curriculum to accommodate different learning styles and academic needs
- Offer personalized feedback to students and provide extra support when necessary
- Communicate with parents/guardians to update them on student progress
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Social Studies, or a related field
- Teacher certification
- Previous experience teaching middle or high school students is preferred
- Familiarity of strategies for students with ADHD is preferred
- Familiarity with executive function frameworks and strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and accommodate students' individual needs
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for helping students succeed
