Account Manager – Pentagon
Location: Pentagon, Joint Staff Office
Clearance: TS/SCI Active (No Poly) – Non-Negotiable
Salary: $120,000 – $130,000
Travel: 1–2 times per month (local travel)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Account Manager to operate within the Pentagon, specifically embedded in the Joint Staff Office. This role requires an individual who can engage comfortably at the O-6 and above level, effectively handling high-level engagements while being equally comfortable sitting alongside users at the platform level behind a computer. The ideal candidate is a Senior Enlisted or Officer who can operate independently, manage ambiguity, and drive business expansion.
This is a critical position requiring a proactive professional who not only executes tasks but also identifies and pursues opportunities to land and expand the business. The role involves direct engagement with stakeholders, daily operations in the Joint Staff, and collaboration with high-ranking officials.
The ideal candidate must be articulate, professional, and able to operate with minimal guidance. While a PMP certification is a plus, it is not required.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Engagement
- Act as the primary representative within the Pentagon’s Joint Staff Office.
- Manage and execute daily operational engagements at the O-6 and above level.
- Conduct FSR-type duties as needed – no task is beneath this role.
- Participate in after-hours events as necessary to build relationships and support mission goals.
- Normal working hours could be after normal business hours and potentially weekends.
Account Management & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, key business executives, decision-makers, and stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities among existing customers.
- Expand company’s footprint within the Pentagon, identifying areas for growth and contract expansion.
- Support business development (BD) efforts by assessing needs and proposing strategic solutions.
- Ensure alignment with core competencies and long-term business goals.
Communication & Reporting
- Communicate effectively via email and in-person engagements with leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain transparency in tracking plans, progress, and issues, providing timely updates to leadership.
- Prepare and present sales and business reports throughout the account lifecycle.
Professionalism & Presentation
- Uphold high grooming standards – professional appearance is mandatory (groomed beards are allowed)
- Project a business-professional image as the face of the company within the Joint Staff.
- Maintain a strong presence in engagements, demonstrating professionalism and expertise.
Travel & Flexibility
- Expect 1-2 trips per month locally and out of state for client engagement and business expansion efforts.
- Adapt to a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, moving quickly from orientation to full operational engagement.
- Operate in a highly independent capacity, with minimal day-to-day guidance.
Candidate Requirements
- TS/SCI Active Clearance (No Poly Required) – Must be read on at the Pentagon within 90 days.
- Senior Enlisted or O-Grade professional with experience operating at high levels.
- Comfortable engaging with O-6 and above leadership while also supporting users at the platform level.
- Proven experience in operations within the Joint Staff or similar military/government environments.
- Highly articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to find and execute opportunities for business growth beyond assigned tasks.
- Experience handling business development (BD) responsibilities is a plus.
- PMP certification is nice to have but not required.
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
