**Job Title:** MEP Technical Coordinator
**Employment Type:** Contract
**Duration:** 12 months with the option to extend or convert to a W-2 permanent employee.
**Schedule:** Candidate will work 3 weeks on-site and 1 week from home.
**Location:** This project is located in Virginia. On occasion, candidates need to be willing to travel to other job sites.
Our client is a leader in the design, build, and construction of mission-critical data centers as well as the installation of equipment. They have large contracts in progress and upcoming projects.
The company needs contractors to support current projects for 12 months initially, but they may be on various projects for up to 2 years.
In 2020, the client sold $500m of UPS and Switchgear to Microsoft for use in their data centers. Similar sales were made in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
This position is an onsite role where you will be the company representative on site during equipment commissioning/installation. You will technically coordinate the installation of UPS and switchgear.
You will work with the electrical sub-contractor, answer questions, and investigate issues. You will also coordinate site arrival, rigging, and placement.
The goal is to reduce service calls and load on the project PM. You will sit in onsite meetings and communicate back to the client.
To be successful, you need a strong background in SITE work, confidence to stand up for the company when needed, and experience in fixing things.
Lots of electrical site work, foreman/PM experience are required. You must know your way around switchgear and UPS well and have some mission-critical system experience.
As the MEP Technical Coordinator, you will work with the customer during equipment installation. You must thoroughly understand design documents, specifications, references, and owner project requirements.
Your role includes coordinating owner's project requirements (OPR) with onsite activities to ensure compliance and working with the commissioning authority or the owner designated representative along with the Project Team.
You will be the sole onsite representative of the client and have a roughly 60/40 technical/coordination split.
Responsibilities:
- Site inspection, site safety
- Documenting – corrective action, proof, Procore/compass
- TMS inspection/termination
- PQM, punch list item closeout
- Assist w/yellow tag inspections.
- LOTO procedures
Project Planning:
- Review contract documents, including drawings, submittals, equipment list, Arc Flash studies, startups & commissioning compliance to ensure they meet the basis of the design.
- Facilitating communication among project stakeholders and attending a centralized platform for discussions and issue resolution.
- Verification processes to ensure that systems meet project requirements including installation means and methods.
- Coordinate project schedule with all business units and scheduler.
- Manage large project sites and ensure timely completion of work.
- Act as the single point of contact for project status by maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders including project manager teams.
- Manage project status and information in the form of formal briefings, on the weekly MEP call.
- Attend regular project meetings to address action items and project schedule.
- Understand site safety including LOTO and PPE.
Skills:
- A construction background, preferably electrical.
- 2 years of trade school/college/journeyman.
- Adept at reading blueprints and associated building information – submittals/specs/one-line.
- Proficiency in Adobe/Editing PDFs.
- Proficient in Procore.
- An understanding of the functionality of ATS, UPS, Switchgear.
- PMO Certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 45 lbs.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, and climb.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- The ability to wear proper PPE to include a 40 Cal suit with a flash hood for extended periods of time.
