Job Summary:

The Systems Administrator - Cloud & Servers role is responsible for effectively installing, configuring, operating, maintaining, and monitoring network and telecommunications systems and infrastructure across our total environment. The ideal candidate will ensure that all related systems hardware and software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational and compliance standards, enables our teams to work efficiently and seamlessly with technology, Set up and maintain virtual private networks (VPN) , Resolve network connectivity issues for other employees, work with external service providers to ensure proper and timely delivery of telecom and data services,  protect networks from unauthorized users through physical and technical means from malicious actors. He or she should stay informed about technology-related developments related to our hardware and software systems and make recommendations for operational improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness or to reduce costs. This role will report to the Manager, IT Infrastructure. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions, virtual / cloud environments, and network infrastructures. 
  • Monitoring network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability 
  • Collaborate with outside service providers to ensure proper and timely delivery of telecom and data services. 
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS) 
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations 
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues 
  • Work with field teams to activate, replace, or repair network or replace faulty equipment 
  • Document logical and physical network design changes. Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to network, telecommunications, data, and cell services. maintain telecommunication databases, prepare telecommunications system specifications, as needed.  
  • Able to troubleshoot complex systems and networking issues in a timely manner. 
  • Monitoring local area network, WAN, and remote environments with various tools to ensure uptime / reliability. 
  • Must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in computer science and information systems. Expected to routinely cross fields in the completion of difficult and varied assignments 
  • Create documentation on processes for IT staff and users 
  • Configure, install, and maintain core and remote network routers / switches / wireless access points / data circuits. 
  • After hours availability for emergencies and maintenance tasks -placeholder 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Effective communicator able to articulate complex technical issues to be easily understood by people with varying degrees of technical proficiency 
  • Works well under pressure and commits to finishing the task at hand – even if it requires long hours 
  • Efficient problem solving / troubleshooting skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and customer support skills and ability to work as a proactive team member in an office setting. 
  • Strong networking knowledge 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Building and managing systems for large numbers of employees (1000 ), preferably for a large multilocation retailer 
  • Experience with vSphere, HPE SimpliVity, MS and Oracle SQL server, Office 365, Intune MDM, Azure Hybrid AD, PRTG, SonicWALL, Cradlepoint ECM, Aruba, Meraki, Jira, and Datto SIRIS a plus. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Windows Server administration and installation (Server 2012, Server 2016, Server 2019) 
  • Advanced knowledge of AD, software and license configuration, and handling permissions 
  • Able to troubleshoot complex systems and networking issues in a timely manner 
  • Recent experience configuring and managing Windows environments (Windows 10/11) in a enterprise environment 
  • Recent experience configuring and managing Mac OSX environments including JAMF connect functionality in a enterprise environment 
  • Experience implementing and administering MDM, SSO, MFA, asset management systems, VPN 
  • Experience with cloud and virtualization technologies like Amazon AWS, Azure, VMWare, and Hyper-V a plus 
  • Understanding of group policies, Intune, and setting system security controls  
  • Understanding of network services protocols
