We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Scientist | Engineerto join our Environmental and Facilities department and work on compliance projects involving Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Hazardous Waste Compliance and Underground Storage Tank (UST) Compliance for various industrial and commercial clients. Work may include air permitting, wastewater discharge permitting, multimedia sampling, stormwater permitting and planning, Tier II reporting, TRI reporting, and more!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with research and interpretation of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and hazardous waste laws
- Support environmental compliance projects by helping track deadlines, organizing documentation, and contributing to technical deliverables under the guidance of senior staff
- Work closely with team members to learn regulatory standards and best practices for environmental compliance
- Contribute to the preparation of client reports, regulatory filings, and internal updates, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to build technical knowledge and project management skills
- Maintain a collaborative and positive work environment by actively engaging with team members and asking questions to promote continuous learning
- Bachelors degree in environmental science or engineering
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats, including technical concepts
- Familiarity with preparing basic reports, memos, and documentation with attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to work as part of a team, take direction, and gradually build project coordination skills
- Knowledge of Connecticut state and federal environmental regulations, with a strong interest in learning and applying compliance standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD knowledge a plus
