Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to function as a Business / Data Analyst. Candidate will perform business and data analysis work for data warehouses, data marts, and other data stores in support of the Optum business. The new hire will define and maintain business requirements, establish and maintain business intelligence / data warehouse methodologies, standards, and industry best practices. Candidate will work closely with external and internal stakeholders, development and testing teams to build data processing solutions, solve problems and resolve issues.
Primary Responsibilities :
Practice Agile methodologies, adapt to changes, remove roadblocks and drive continued delivery
Gather business requirements for data processing applications in an iterative / agile development model, partnering with Business and IT stakeholders
Analyze and document requirements from internal and external sources, evaluate and build effective solutions to problems in the data warehousing space
Provide source system analysis and perform gap analysis between source and target systems
Create source-to-target mapping documents based on business requirements
Define and document rules for data profiling and data transformation logic
Support Data Governance activities and be responsible for data integrity
Query data sources to conduct analyses, detailed data profiling and reporting
Research complex functional data and processing issues
Assume responsibility for data integrity, act diligently on gap closures, identify approaches to improve data quality among various internal groups and / or between internal and external sources
Work in with partnership with global IT development teams
Required Qualifications :
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Overall 10 years of experience in IT Software Development Life Cycle and document governance
7 years of data analysis experience
5 years of systems analysis / requirement gathering experience
3 years of Health Care / Claims data experience
5 years of working experience with Hadoop, Big data technologies and with strong SQL experience
5 years of experience in understanding Data modelling, ETL and Data warehouse concepts
Adherence to current team and enterprise document governance policies including Sharepoint usage
Preferred Qualifications :
Must be able to work independently, take initiative and work proactively to solve problems
Knowledge of ETL processing tools
Organizing data in order to distinguish patterns and recognize trends
HealthCare Industry / Claims experience
Working experience with HealthCare data standards like HL7 or 834 / 837 or SMA
